Although
not originally from Malaysia, the
watermelon in its succulent red and
yellow varieties can be found in
abundance all over the country. This
native of tropical and subtropical
Africa are mostly grown in Kelantan,
Terengganu, Kedah, Perlis, Melaka,
Pahang, Sarawak and Sabah. Best
savoured fresh, the watermelon pulp is
also blended as a thirst quencher.
Almost all
food stalls, restaurants and hotel
eateries serve this popular drink. The
fruit contains
high contents of vitamins and
minerals.The dried seeds of the
watermelon are
made into tidbits known as kuaci. |
