The Langkawi rainforest is rich with a variety of flora that lends itself to medicinal cures, fragrances, lotions and pigments. Flowers, fruits, sap,
bark, leaves and roots are utilised in many ways to fulfil a host of Man’s needs

Through well-defined conservation and sustainable forest management researchers continue to study thousands of tropical plants that have been identified to date in the Langkawi islands. Of these, about 2,000 species have been documented for their traditional medicinal properties.

In collaboration with Malaysian universities and international research institutions, efforts to translate research findings into commercial realities is generating more benefits from the country’s vast store of plant resources. It is noteworthy that about 25% of the world’s medicines, valued at an estimated US$10 billion annually, are sourced from tropical rainforests.

Langkawi values and cherishes its green heritage and is committed to ensure that its forests are sustainably managed for the benefit of present and future generations.
