Nasi Kandar Boroi

Great nasi kandar
- but operated by Langkawi Malays
and not the usual Indian-Muslims.
The food, nevertheless, is delicious if
not even better than the Indian-Muslim
version.
Upgraded from
the formerly make-shift stall now shares
the same compound as a car wash and auto
accessories shop.
Boroi Nasi Kandar serves up mean
curries, including the highly
recommended
spicy masak kicap sotong
(whole squid in chili soy sauce), curried prawns,
ayam masak hitam (goes well with
nasi kandar), beef curry and much more.
A specialty almost non-existent at other
nasi kandar outlets is the
freshly-cooked gulai kawah (beef
parts in curry).
The restaurant is clean and airy (no
walls!) Best time to go just about noon
before 12.00, when you'll be served
freshly-cooked curries. No service for
about an hour around 1 p.m. on Fridays
due prayers.

authentic cultural ambience with a
specially created floor area - the
'Anjung' and dine sitting
cross-legged on rustic mats. Serves

partake of that
great Malaysian
breakfast - the roti canai.

thoroughfares, this nondescript wooden

Datai Bay, serves the best homemade
roti canai. Homemade? yes, the
man mixes and kneads the dough
himself rather than using the ready-made
variety.
