On the east side of Langkawi there is a large artificial concrete barrier built to protect the airport runway extension. There used to be a place for moorings called the Langkasuka Boat Club but the place is now quite empty. It is located at the rear of the now closed Aqua Beat water recreation centre. Last checked, there were no yachts or dinghys in sight. For that matter the place has been desolate since the opening of the Telaga Harbour Park Marina further up. It is now regularly used by some fishing boats and transporters carrying supplies and guests to the Rebak Marina Resort on Pulau Rebak. Don't try to come through either of the other two entrances unless you are in a power boat; they have bridges over them with limited air draught. The odd doodad standing in the approach to the club at 06°20'·188N 99°42'·583E is an old tide gauge used when constructing the breakwaters. Note, too, another nondescript object potentially hazardous to topsides at 06°20'·301N 99°42'·679E.

There used to be 30 solid moorings attached to concrete blocks. The drawback is that the entire area is shoal. Drawing 2·3m you could go aground shoving your keel 0·5m into the soft mud at low water springs. Note that although it looks very well protected, life in Langasuka can get very lively indeed in strong SW winds. However, it is normally a peaceful spot and cruisers have left their boats safely here for protracted periods. Note that if you do, upon returning you may find your antifouling removed by the mud.

There is a dinghy dock, a basic shower, water supply, and a bistro. The slip for shoal draughters where some repairs can be done is still intact. The nearby village of Padang Mat Sirat has shops and a market and the airport is very close by. Wholesalers will deliver and you can buy duty-free beer at the bistro. Cruisers using the moorings can also use the internet facilities and the pool at the nearby Langasuka Hotel. Call on VHF Ch 69.
