The North-South Expressway
facilitates travel to Kuala Kedah or
Kuala Perlis for ferry connections to
Langkawi. Express buses usually take
about six hours. Buses from KL depart
from either the Puduraya or the Hentian
Duta Terminal.Fare from KL to Kuala
Perlis is about RM33, while to Alor
Star, RM30 one-way. Car parks available
at both points. |

By Rail
The KTM provides
rail services from KL to Alor Star and
Arau. From Alor Star or Arau, you can
take a bus or taxi to Kuala Kedah (from
Alor Star RM15) or
Kuala Perlis (from Arau RM12) and then
board the ferry to
Langkawi. Comfortable air-conditioned
sleeping berths are available. For

Daily direct air services
from KL to Langkawi operated by Air Asia
and Malaysia Airlines. FireFly Air (from
Penang only). Air Asia
operates three flights a week between
Langkawi and Bangkok on Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Saturdays. Singapore's Silk
Air serves the Singapore route four

By Ferry
Ferries provide regular services to
Langkawi from Kuala Kedah and Kuala
Perlis. The journey to from Kuala Kedah
and Kuala Perlis takes about 1 hour 15
minutes and 45 minutes respectively,
while from Penang is about two hours 30
minutes. The last ferry from from both
points on the mainland departs at 7.00
p.m. Fares from Kuala Perlis: RM15
one-way and from Kuala Kedah: RM18 one
